|Description:||Position available at the YMCA Early Learning Center at Haven for Hope.
The teacher is responsible for the day to day teaching of the children. Planning and implementing the daily lessons and schedules. Incumbent is also responsible for maintaining the classroom climate to promote learning, creativity and growth of the children.
|Duties:||Plan and implement a daily schedule and weekly lesson plans, to be turned in each Thursday to the Director.
Participates in parent/teacher conferences.
Keeps development and growth records on each child in the classroom.
Attends training as required.
Keeps the supplies and classroom neat and orderly.
Arranges classroom attractively to encourage involvement, experimentation and creativity by the children.
Set rules for the classroom.
Follows rules and regulations of branch and the YMCA of San Antonio.
Know and follow all the TDHS, fire and health standards.
Consult with Director about concerns/problems with the children before talking to the parents.
Assesses each child’s developmental needs (physical, intellectual, social, etc.)
Offers praise affection and acceptance to all children (relates to all children with courtesy, respect, acceptance and patience.)
Checks and plans for the safety of the children in the building, on the playground, on the van and on field trips.
Presents a professional manner to all staff, children, and parents.
Passes information concerning the children in care on to incoming staff.
Other duties as assigned by supervisor.|
|Qualifications:||High School diploma or equivalent required.
1-2 years of experience working with preschool-aged children necessary.
Must be able to take and pass CPR, AED, First Aid, BBP training within 60 days of employment.
Work is performed in an active environment. Incumbent must have the ability to communicate both verbal and written, with all levels of staff, children and parents.
This position requires high levels of attention and alertness, because of the children that are in the camp. Visual acuity is required for child supervision. Repetitive stooping and bending with occasional lifting light to medium is required.
Ability to stand and walk for long periods at a time is required, as well as, the ability to run and be able to participate in sports.
